Frankfurter Allgemeine votes Max best folding bike on the market

The Frankfurter Allgemeine (via its Kaufkompass) just elected our A-MAX as the best folding bike on the market. We're proud, but... not surprised 😎

THE HIGHLIGHTS

The Frankfurter made a fully independent consumer guide that judges products according to a variety of factors: quality, pricing, versatility... Max was tested along with 13 other brands, and was judged the best across the board! Here's what they had to say:

Torsion-resistant and robust folding bike with low-maintenance gears for all types of tours. We already like the Ahooga A-Max when we see the bright yellow flashing out of the box it comes in. But color isn't everything, so let's jump on it and get started.

The first positive thing we noticed was the stiffness of the A-Max. Since the Belgian manufacturer dispensed with the classic folding bike hinge on the main tube, the A-Max rides almost like a classic diamond-framed bike. Combined with Schwalbe's wide Billy Bonkers tires, the Ahooga can handle just about anything that gets in its way. 

The Belgian designers have avoided too many experimental bells and whistles in the A-Max's construction – apart from the Ahooga's signature double down tube. The result is a pleasantly clean look. The version available online (and delivered to us) for €1,699 comes pre-mounted with robust polycarbonate mudguards and decent pedals. Those who want a luggage rack and other suitable accessories like bags, etc., will have to pay extra. Also included is a high-quality, USB-C rechargeable lighting set. 

In terms of its intended use, we attest to the Ahooga A-Max's versatility. Unlike most other bikes in our test, it's not "just" a folding bike, but can be considered a fully-fledged bicycle for all body sizes and weight classes. Whether you use it for commuting or as an everyday bike with the option of folding it down when needed, the bike can be used meaningfully in many different ways.
